So the former author of this blog and I had a deal, she would go for runs, and I would write a post daily. We both fell of the bandwagon for far to long. I have a really hard time being consistent and it looks like I’m not committed, but I am! I so very badly want to declutter my house and make it nice, but it’s difficult. So I am trying to so it again! I love hearing your what you have to say, please feel free to comment and bit the like button!
So I am going to start again with getting rid of the clothes that have been sitting on the bench on the mudroom for probably at least a good month now. It’s all kids clothes they’ve out grown. It was a kitchen garbage bag full! Yay for less laundry in the house.
And it’s garbage day, so there’s recycling items that will be leaving too!
Have a great day e everyone!
I’m so inconsistent, and I am so sorry about that! But I am still doing it, I swear! Last week I got rid of 2 things I took a picture of. Both from my kitchen and both in rough shape, so it was time to let them go, I had others I used more any ways.
First item is a spatula/flipper thingy you use to flip things in the frying pan. It’s melted in several spots. The perks of letting your 9 yr old learn to cook. It was from the dollar store so it’s all good. And we have more.
And the other is a frying pan, the Teflon is all wrecked and horrible. I might actually replace it, it was a great pan!
Both these items for there easy to the garbage can outside.
So, I fell off the bandwagon, big time. January 26th was the last time I made a post. But do not fear, I haven’t stopped getting rd of stuff. I just stopped keeping track, for the most part. I’ve implemented a couple new systems/habits. I Keep a grocery bag by the front door so that when I’m folding laundry and come across something that is too small or they don’t want anymore I have somewhere to put it right away. It stops it from making it’s way back into there dressers. The other thing I have been trying to do is when people give me stuff (I’m a sucker for when people are giving away nice things for free) but I will only take the items I actually will make use of. A friend had recently gave me a giant bag full of baby/toddler toys, and there was some nice stuff in there! But there was also some stuff that wouldn’t be of any use since he had grown past the age they were intended, or I just didn’t want anymore things. You can only have so many baby things, right? So I took those few things I could use and let the rest go.
My mom was recently over and we spent some time getting rid of the stuff I had been collecting in my mudroom to donate. The back of her little golf was full! I got rid of the baby’s exersaucer, clothes and shoes he had outgrown, I threw out my old shoes that were falling apart. It was great! It is so much easier to do these things with another person to talk to.
So now I need to get back into the habit of just finding 1 thing a day rather then going in spurts. I find it stressful to look at a room or a corner of that room and try and decide on so many things to get rid of or to keep. This way I can just keep my eyes open through the day and see something and right away I will make a post about it. If you think of me and my posts and wondering what happened, send me a message or something! I need all the help I can get with trying to get this place in order.
I have 3 things to show you that will be leaving my house.
1) A wooly sort of sleeping bag that goes with a sled that we have that we won’t really get to use as we haven’t had any real good snowfalls this winter. And I don’t think we will be either. Plus I think he’s too big. We never even got a chance to use it, that makes me a little sad, but someone will get a very nice baby sleeping bag.
2) Before Lukas was born I got ( can’t remember if I bought it out if it was a gift; sorry if you are reading this and gave it to me!) this adorable super soft snow suit that I thought would fit. Oh boy was I wrong. It’s size 12 months. He never wore it. I might just try any sell it on kijiji, who knows maybe someone is looking for one for the rest of winter.
3)One of my shirts. It’s a maternity shirt, it was nice on warm days since it was so flowey and lightweight. But it’s always been too short. Now if I wear it, I look so fat or pregnant, so it’s well past its time to go.
If you happen to see anything you might want to have, just let me know, I will set it aside.
Thanks for reading!
Weekends are tough, and they’re busy! Sitting here on Sunday night looking around and I see a pair of pants that I had bought this summer while up north because I had run out of clean warm clothes. So we went to a town near by and they had one little shop. Of course it was summer, and there were very few pants to choose from. These are not nice pants, these are elastic waist, “old lady” type. So they can go!
My other item is a screen protector for a phone we don’t even have anymore. It was a great one. James and I both had the same phone but he never put his one for some reason. So if you know of anyone that has a Sony xperia z1, they can have a screen protector if they want.
So my littlest child is 11 months old and wearing size 18month clothing, and size 24 month for the sleepers for the length and foot size. I came across a shirt of his that I thought I got rid of months ago. A size 6 month onsie. Nothing special about it. It’s hard to explain this attachment to little things that our babies have worn. Time is just so fleeting. Snuggly those babies tight, soak in that smell, it goes so fast, even when the days feel so long.
I think I need to change my game plan and stop leaving it to “see what I can find”. Because all day I was trying to see what I could get rid of. I think i might tackle a room or corner per month or week or something.
Anyways, today I tried to use a spatula to get the last bit of peanut butter out of the jar, and it was terrible! You should know that I have 2 that are about the same size, it’s a nice small convenient for the last bit in a jar. But this one is terrible. It’s so stiff and rigid it’s not usable. I am not sure why I haven’t gotten rid of it sooner, but today I was holding it and said to myself, ” it’s time I let go of you! ” and told one of the kids to go put it by the front door. Good-bye spatula, I am not going to miss you!
